Ladybug Birthday Party

My daughter just loves ladybugs, so last year for her birthday I hosted a ladybug party and she invited her preschool class.  I love polka dots and I couldn’t resist all the cute red, black, and white elements!
Here’s the details:
{FOOD TABLE}
I bought a red plastic table covering and lined it with printed wrapping paper.  To create different tiers, I wrapped shoe boxes in red wrapping paper and tied with polka-dot ribbon.
 I dipped jumbo marshmallows in red candy melts, then dotted with black decorator frosting from the tube.  Red licorice, fresh strawberries, ladybug cupcakes, and red punch were also up for grabs.  I left a space in the middle for the pizza.
{LADYBUG CUPCAKES}
I found a little inspiration on Pinterest (via Bright Ideas) for the cupcakes, but gave them my own touch.  I made a batch of homemade buttermilk chocolate cupcakes, frosted with red icing, then decorated with black icing.  I wanted to use edible googly eyes and couldn’t find any (I later found some at World Market), so I resorted to Reese’s Pieces. You could also use red M&M’s like the original.
The birthday girl…our little ladybug.

{INVITATIONS}

I made a word document with the information, printed, cut and glued onto red cardstock.  Then I punched holes in the side and threaded fun ribbon through and inserted a black brad in the middle.

{DECORATIONS}

I made a circle banner with some printed letters, patterned paper, and my Silhouette cutter.
I also blew up lots of red balloons, “polka-dotted” them with black marker, and threw them all around the house so the kids could play with them as they came in before the party started.
 {FESTIVITIES}

I gathered some small rocks and painted them red before the guests arrived.  Then on the party day, I and some of the moms helped the kids draw dots and the face with black marker, and glue the eyes and antennae on.  My daughter still plays with her ladybug pet that we keep in the backyard. 🙂

We also played “keep the balloon in the air”.  I blew up some red balloons and added big polka-dots with permanent black marker.  After I said, “go”, the kids had to keep bumping the balloon up to see who could keep it airborne the longest.  We played several rounds, so I’m sure the kids went home tired.  🙂

{PARTY FAVORS}

 I found these cute bags at Hobby Lobby and filled them with fun goodies for the little guests.  I topped them with a tag that I made and printed in a Word document and backed with red cardstock.

This was tons of fun to put together and the kids had a blast!

    So cute! I love that she was even wearing ladybug clothes! (Also, I got the googly eyes for Chloe's owl cookies at JoAnn's and also saw them at Target at one point.)

    The combination of red and black really makes a party so special! My daughter is afraid of ladybugs but when she saw me reading your blog, she also requested for the same theme! I guess she’s also fascinated by the great combination of colors. Anyway, you had great ideas for your party. I bet the cupcakes were so yummy! :)

    Hey I my friends I tell you something can you give me answer. Keep it simple. If you're serving beer, offer one regular and one light. If you're serving wine, offer a good merlot and chardonnay. If you're serving soft drinks, we recommend offering Coke, Diet Coke, and 7-up. Don't forget the bottled water and ice. Feature one really good "house" drink. Have enough glasses, but not five different kinds. If you feature a martini, it's got to be in a martini glass. The rule of thumb is to have 2-1/2 glasses for each guest. Beverages need napkins. Get at least as many napkins as glasses — more if you're planning on using them for passed hors d'oeuvres.

    My friends last night my son birthday I share with you some interesting. Children LOVE bounce houses! It's great exercise and they'll be in there for hours, working off all that pent-up energy. Bouncy castle parties are memorable -- your child will remember the bounce house birthday party for his entire life.

    Water slides is the best funniest games for everyone. Kids love to slide on it. When you rent a water slide you must need to conduct a best company which company give you best safety.
