Love Monster Valentine’s Kids Craft

My kids are always asking to make crafts, and with Valentine’s Day approaching, we came up with this fun and adorable Love Monster idea.
We visited my family after Christmas and with the cold weather outside, we stayed indoors much of the time.  Needless to say, the kiddos there got a bit stir crazy!  So I tried to keep them busy being creative.  🙂
What child doesn’t obsess over monsters, at least the cute and friendly kind?  So we decided to make this super simple paper craft that’s festive and oh-so-sweet!   And how about those eyes? 🙂
The sky’s the limit when making these little ladies.  I appreciated that the kids could do everything on their own, too.
Here’s what you’ll need to make them:
Construction paper
Googly eyes (feel free to mix sizes)
Pipe Cleaners
Glitter
School Glue
Clear tape

Cut a large heart shape with a piece of construction paper.

Cut a few pipe cleaners and tape them to the back of the heart to look like antennae.  Glue a few small hearts to the tops of the pipe cleaners.

Glue the eyes on in whatever formation or number you’d like.

We used my paper crimper to crimp the arm and leg strips.  Then glue them behind the heart body.

Add a glitter mouth, and you’re done!

I loved seeing the creativity of each child.  Each monster turned out so different and cute.  My son made a more manly monster.  🙂  This is a perfect snowy day, “cooped up inside” craft using only a few very inexpensive supplies.
I hope you and your kids have fun with this like we did!
