The school kids will really beam when they open their boxes to find today’s yummy lunch idea, plus a Lunch Time “I Spy” Game!
We are in full “back to school” mode here. We’re trying to adjust to a new schedule and routine. Our mornings are pretty crazy with a quick breakfast, then lunch prep, getting ready, and drop offs. The kids are enjoying their new teachers and are finding play mates and learning so much. I still can’t believe I’ve got three children in school!
My favorite time of day is when I get to pick them up and hear all about how things went for them. There are always lots of stories that need to be told and exciting news to share! 🙂
Since the kids always request home lunch, we pack it every morning before heading out the door. I opt for simple, because there’s just never enough time to get ready before that final bell rings! But, I never said simple had to be boring, now did I?!
If the kids are tired of the traditional sandwich, I’ll send a tortilla wrap with lunch meat, spinach, tomatoes, and cheese. And then I swap out the side items frequently to maintain their interest. I love to include a fruit and veggie, along with a fun item like Lance crackers. My kids love all the varieties, but are partial to the Grilled Cheese. 🙂
I also keep DASANI water and POWERADE Zero bottles on hand for the perfect drink options. They are a great way to quench the thirst before heading out for recess!
I made sure to head to Albertsons and stock up on lunch necessities before the kids “hit the books” again on August 14th. Use this handy store locator to find an Albertsons near you!
And now, I’ve got great news for you! Save $1.50 on any (1) Lance 8 count and larger sandwich packs when you buy any (2) participating DASANI, POWERADE or Honest Kids multipacks with tear-pad coupon found in-store. Look for this coupon in store, available on aisle end caps!
To make lunch time extra special, I like to occasionally include a little handout or quick game, like today’s Lunch Time “I Spy”. One of my kids’ favorite things to play when we’re on the road is “I Spy”. So I thought, why not make it into a fun activity they could complete at the lunch table between bites? They’ll just count each item and write it in the space provided on the side. I know my preschooler was especially excited about this, as she’s working on perfecting her counting skills. 🙂

What are your kids’ lunch box must-haves? Or maybe they crave variety?! Either way, I’d love to get some new ideas!
