My daughter requested a Strawberry Party for her seventh birthday this year, and I had a blast styling it! All the red, white and green details are just too cute.
All eight guests that we invited showed up, which was really unusual, but so exciting. Since the theme was very tailored to little ladies, she chose to invite just her girl friends. 🙂 One of the few foods that my daughter eats are strawberries, so I thought her party of choice was so fitting.Here are all the details:
{THE INVITATION}
I designed the invitation in PicMonkey, then printed them out as a 5×7″ at Costco. So easy!
{DECORATIONS}
I ordered the Happy Birthday banner, the strawberry table runner, cupcake toppers, and strawberry stickers from Minted. I made the tissue paper hanging pom poms using a great tutorial found HERE. I purchased the “lace” plastic table liner at Walmart.The Tissue Paper Scalloped Party Backdrop is so easy to make! It just takes some perseverance. But trust me, it was worth it, because it makes a big girly statement and adds some fun layers and dimension.
For the tissue paper scalloped backdrop, you’ll need a few packages of tissue paper. Then, simply open them up, smooth them flat and cut a scallop design through all the layers, as shown below.
I was able to get two sets of scallops out of one package of tissue paper, if that makes sense. The first set only took up half the length of the tissue paper page. Peel the layers apart, one at a time, and tape them to your wall, starting where you want the top to be, with double-sided tape. I did two scallop designs across. Then grab another layer and tape it underneath the first so it hangs below at the width you’d like. You can also start at the bottom and work your way up.
{FOOD}
We had lots of strawberry sweets! Along with pizza, we served chocolate-dipped strawberries, plain strawberries, Yellow Cupcakes with tasty Strawberry Buttercream Frosting (recipe below). A variety of strawberry candies in glass jars were up for grabs as well. I just made some pink lemonade for the drink and then added some chopped strawberries to it.

I purchased the old-fashioned cake stand from Hobby Lobby in the clearance section, then spray-painted it white.
{STRAWBERRY BUTTERCREAM FROSTING}
3/4 c. (1 1/2 sticks) butter, softened but not melted
4 1/2 cups confectioner’s sugar
1 cup fresh strawberries
1 tsp. vanilla
Place strawberries in a blender and puree until smooth. Transfer to a sauce pan over medium heat. bring to a boil. Remove from heat and cool completely. Meanwhile cream butter, confectioner’s sugar and vanilla. Add in cooled strawberry puree and mix until just combined. If the consistency is too thin, add more powdered sugar, a little at a time. If the frosting is too thick, add milk, a little at a time, until you reach a desired consistency.
The frosting was so creamy and yummy! I decided to just spread it on, rather than pipe it. The girls, like typical kids, licked the frosting off and were done. 🙂 I wish they would have delved into the cupcake portion, though, because the homemade yellow cake was mmmmmm…..mmmmmmm….good!

I also hand-dipped strawberries in melted semi-sweet chocolate the morning of the party. If you dip them too far in advance, they start to accumulate dew (condensation from being in the fridge). Simply fill a microwave-safe mug with chocolate bark, candy melts, or chocolate chips, microwave in 30 second increments, stirring between, then dip the strawberries and place on waxed paper on a cookie sheet. Keep in the fridge until shortly before you’re ready to serve them.
I also served plain strawberries for those who are crazy and would rather not have them chocolate-dipped. 🙂 I filled my candy jar pedestals with strawberry gummy candies so the kids could grab and snack throughout the party.
{GAMES}
We played an exciting Strawberry Balloon Toss that the kids got a huge kick out of.
I simply blew up red balloons, then drew tiny black dots on them with a black permanent marker for strawberry seeds. Then I tied a short piece of green ribbon to the bottom.
Here’s the kids in action. They first had to just keep it in the air by themselves and the one who did it for the longest without holding it or letting it touch the ground was the winner. Then, we switched it up a bit and had them partner up and do the same with one balloon for each pair. So fun!
We also played a fun game of Pin the Stem on the Strawberry.
For this game, I drew a giant strawberry on a white poster board, then cut out stems on green cardstock in various colors (I used scraps). We had each of the girls write their name on theirs and then we blind-folded them. It was pretty tricky determining the winner, but it ended up being the one who had her stem right side up and closest to the very top of the strawberry. So fun, and it was super simple to prepare too!
This Strawberry Birthday Party was a huge hit with the girls! I really enjoyed putting it all together!
