This easy and adorable burlap no-sew Ribbon Bat Bunting is a very festive Halloween decoration for the home!
Halloween is definitely my favorite holiday, and I think it’s safe to say that the same is true for my kids. We pretty much talk about the holiday year-round and they plan their costumes months in advance. I love to get excited with them.
Probably my favorite part about October (usually end of September around our house) is decorating for the spooky day. I like to add a few decor pieces each year to my collection…it’s just too fun! So this time around, I decided to make this cute Ribbon Bat Bunting! It’s super simple and adds a festive black-and-white effect to a shelf, mantel, wall display, or wherever you choose to hang it.
This is a no-sew craft! I get excited about that. 🙂
You’ll need:
3/4″ Black ric rac
2 1/4″ wide Black Grossgrain Ribbon
Burlap
Small Googly Eyes
A glue gun
White acryllic paint
Ribbon, jute, or string for hanging
Isn’t the Halloween-printed ribbon darling? I didn’t end up using it on this project, but you can bet it’ll be making an appearance on another one before the holiday arrives.
Begin by cutting out a paper triangle pendant to act as your pattern. Mine measured 6 3/4″ across the top. Pin the pattern to your burlap and cut out. I cut a total of 6.
Using a foam brush, blot the white paint onto your burlap triangles until they’re covered. Let dry.
Cut a piece of ribbon approximately 8″ in length.
Now cut the ends at 45 degree angles, as shown above, so the edges are running parallel to one another.
Tie one tight knot in the center. I had to tie some of them a few times until they were to my liking. Now hot glue the bat ribbon onto the burlap and then glue two cute googly eyes in the middle!
Now glue on strips of ric rac, then trim the ends if needed.
Almost done! Aren’t they adorable? Now just hot glue your string, ribbon, or jute to the back and hang!
Such a perfect way to spruce up the house for Halloween! This bunting is so fun and easy to make! I’m not a fan of real bats, but the ribbon bats sure are cute! 🙂
