Fruit Smoothie Popsicles

Ahhhhh….summer…how I love you!  Though my kids are early risers so I don’t have the luxury of sleeping in, at least there’s no rushing to put breakfast on the table, to get three kids and myself dressed, shoes on, and buckled in the car, so my daughter can get to school before the bell rings.  It’s heaven being able to take things at my own pace in the morning and not having to plan my whole day around drop off and pick up.  Bring on the heat if it means the extra freedom in my schedule.  🙂

Other than a free schedule, there’s not much better on a summer’s day, when the sun is beating down in full force, than a cool refreshment that both hydrates and satisfies a sweet craving.  My kids love smoothies and they’re always asking for popsicles after playing hard outside.  So I thought it’d be fun to combine two really great things, and here you have it…the yummy Fruit Smoothie Popsicle!

They’re so easy to make, and kids sure enjoy helping!
Grab some popsicle molds.  I got mine from World Market.  I love that this one has a removable top where the popsicle sticks are inserted, so the end results are really pretty and professional looking!  It’s quality-made and top dishwasher rack safe too!

Assemble the ingredients for your favorite smoothie.  My kids love orange juice with pineapple, strawberries, peaches, and mangos.  The possibilities and combinations are nearly endless.
Let the kids throw a few handfuls of fruit into the blender and pour in a little juice.  It’s pretty difficult to mess this up.  🙂  Add at least 1 1/2 c. juice for about 3 cups of fruit.  You want the mixture to be pour-able.  Add a little yogurt, too, if you want them to be creamier.
My kiddos were so proud to get in on the fun, as you can see.
Now it’s ready to blend! Just be sure to put the top on first.  🙂

Blend until the chunks are all gone, or leave some in if you like it that way.
Mmmm….smoothie goodness.

Pour into the molds.

Place the top on and let the kids poke the popsicles sticks in.  I think this was their favorite thing to do.
Now put them into the freezer.  The hard part is waiting until they’re all the way set.  My kids kept opening the freezer door to check them.  🙂
Carefully take off the top lid.  To remove the popsicles from the molds, turn the container upside down and run warm water over the outer molds, one at a time, for 20 seconds or so while gently pulling on the stick to loosen the popsicle.  It will soon easily come out.

Healthy, tasty, and so refreshing…a smoothie on a stick.
My eight month old went to town with one!  I couldn’t believe that she could get past the shocking temperature, but it didn’t seem to bother her in the least.

Now the trick is eating them before they melt. :)How’s your summer going so far?

mmmmm! Yummy! We also turn our extra smoothie into Popsicle! You should try adding a bit of yogurt to your mix... it makes them not melt as fast and adds a creamy flavor :o) Emily @ Nap-Time Creations

Hahha you did bring them! :) I would LOVE to make popsicles out of my smoothies. I even have a mold for doing it. But I just can't help myself and I always drink the smoothies instead! Lol. Maybe when Callum's a bit older & wanting all manner of unhealthy dessert, I'd be a bit more inspired? These look AMAZING, though! Thank you so much for linking up with me this week at Tasty Tuesdays! I’ve pinned this & shared it with my followers!

Thanks for getting me to try something different, glad I did now.I love smoothies.. especially the ' green ones' , but for berries and such, I use yogurt.. so yummy in smoothies! I like to vary them as well.. so I use whey protein for my chocolate / strawberry smoothies..and... YUMMMM.
