“Make It a Good Day” Chocolate Motivational Advent Board

Because chocolate makes every day better, put together this simple advent calendar with mini bags of DOVE® Chocolate Fruit & Nut goodies to grab before heading out the door!

Every morning as my kids jump out of the car in the school drop off line, backpacks on and ready to go, I call out, “Make it a good day!”  I used to say “Have a good day!”, but I recently reworded it so it’s more intentional and actionable on their part.
My daughter has had a rough year thus far at school, so we’ve had lots of conversations, after she comes home discouraged, about how we can’t change the actions of others, but how our attitude makes a huge difference in whether we’re happy or not.  In essence, we can choose to make it a good day no matter what happens or who is trying to get us down. Yes, there will still be hard times, but we are in charge of deciding how we react to them.
It’s turned out to be a great learning experience for her in positivity.  Now, when I pick the kids up from school, instead of the getting the look of frustration and defeat, I hear a proud-sounding, “Mom, I made it a good day!”.  And then I can’t possibly beam any bigger in response.
The phrase has become so common around our house and has made such a difference in lifting our moods and improving our outlook, that I wanted to incorporate it into a motivational daily advent board to reward myself, involving chocolate, of course!
My thoughts are that we as individuals are in charge of whether we have a good day or not, but chocolate can certainly make it better, either way! 🙂
Do you agree?  Then today’s simple craft is for you!

I ran to Walmart and picked up some DOVE® Chocolate Fruit & Nut yummies, which were perfect for my mini goodie bags.
Be on the lookout this month for a special in-store display with these treasures!  All the wonderful flavors of dark chocolate, fruit and nuts, in bite-size portions, so I can keep on track with my new year’s goals and resolutions while still getting my sweet-tooth fix. 🙂  It’s a definite win!
I wanted to include little pouches that are the hubby and I can easily grab on the way out the door, so I included some DOVE® Dark Chocolate Raspberry & Honey Roasted Almond, DOVE® Dark Chocolate Strawberry & Cocoa Almond, and DOVE® Dark Chocolate Blueberries in mini plastic bags and adhered them to a white foam board with some fun and funky patterned Washi tape.
I used adhesive vinyl to apply the phrase on top, but you can certainly just write it on with a bold-tipped marker if you don’t have a craft cutting machine.  I’ve included the free printable number labels below for your convenience.
You’ll only need a few easy-to-find supplies, which you may already have on-hand, so let’s get started!
Print the number and cut out the number labels found below.  Use double-sided tape to adhere them (one for each day of the month) to the mini bags (mine measured 3″x4″).
Download and print Number Labels Page 1 here and Number Labels Page 2 here.  Printables are for personal use only.  Thanks!
Fill each bag with a variety of DOVE® Chocolate Fruit & Nuts, line the bags up on the board where you want them (I did four rows of 8), and tape them in place with Washi tape.  Add your vinyl or hand-written label to the top, and you’re ready to “Make it a good day”!
Not a morning person?  Well, you just might become one if you have this to look forward to each day before heading out! 🙂  These are little bags of chocolate-covered fruit and nut heaven!
It’s super easy to put together this motivational board that’s sure to get your day off on the right foot with an “I can do this!” mentality!

What are your best tips for keeping a positive attitude when things aren’t quite going your way?  Does chocolate help?  I’d love to hear in the comments section below!

That chocolate sounds DIVINE! And I love the washi tape and numbered stickers you used! Make it a good day sounds way better than have a good day, so I think I'll have to start saying that, too!

Thanks, Chelsea! It's our new favorite phrase around our house. It definitely helps us to be more conscious about our own attitude and behaviors.
