Spruce Up a Room with Walls Tale Vinyl Decals

I was given free product from Walls Tale for review purposes, but, as always, all opinions are 100% mine.
My kids bathroom is jungle themed.  It was one of the first projects we took on when we moved into our new home.  I just couldn’t wait to decorate a fun space for them.  I wanted them to love it in the hopes that they would use their own bathroom instead of coming to mine.  🙂
We purchased the lion rug, shower curtain, towels, an elephant tissue cover, alligator soap holder and giraffe toothbrush holder from Target.  We made plans to paint a jungle scene on the big wall when we got a chance, but surprise, surprise it didn’t happen.
So when Walls Tale reached out to me, I was beyond thrilled to choose some cute decals to add more color and pizzazz to the room.   It required some effort to put all of it up, but I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out, and it was definitely a million times easier than painting.  My six-year-old daughter came in after we finished applying the decals and said, “Mom, it looks awesome!”  My three-year-old son peeked in soon after and literally squealed with excitement.  🙂
Here’s the end result!  I just love how it livens up the space!
All Walls Tale designs are plotted from high-quality, long-lasting colorful German vinyl that has been hand assembled.  I was happy to learn, too, that the designs are waterproof, since my kids like to splash and play crazily in the bath.  🙂   If you’ll be applying decals to a bathroom like we did, be sure that no one showers in there that day, as a wet and warm area may cause the vinyl to peel.
The shipment didn’t come with instructions for applying the vinyl to the wall, but the process is very simple.  Each decal piece comes with very sticky transfer tape over the top.  To apply to the wall, simply peel the backing off, stick the design on the wall, then peel back the transfer tape carefully, ensuring that the vinyl adheres well to the wall.
If you have a large area that you need to fill, simply send in a request and they will customize the design to fit it.  Also, if you find a design that you love but want to omit certain parts of it, simply leave a note in the specified area before adding it to your cart and they will be happy to oblige at no extra cost.  For example, the lion in my design originally was yellow, but I asked that they change it to orange to match our lion rug.
We chose to have the cute little lion peeking over the towel rack.

Some assembly is required in order to achieve this cuteness.  Each design comes in different pieces that have to be put together on the wall.  For instance, the giraffe came in four different sections (one for the bottom of the body with the legs and hooves, another for the orange nose, another for the head and neck, and one for the scalloped mane).  The flowers and leaves all came on a big sheet, so we had to cut those out separately before applying them, but it was no big deal.  There are no application instructions, however, so we referred to the design image online many times to ensure that we put the pieces together correctly.

The large decals were definitely a two-person job.  After sticking them to the wall, my husband peeled back the transfer tape while I smoothed the design down to avoid bubbling.  The entire project took just under two hours to complete, and was well worth it.  It was actually quite fun watching it come together.  The kids kept anxiously checking in to see our progress.  🙂

Here’s another view of the left side.

Isn’t it adorable?  I love the little details of the birds and butterflies too.  The monkeys came with separate pink bows and lashes, so we chose to make two of them into girls and one a boy, to match the genders of our children.  🙂  I love that the vinyl is really sticky, so I don’t have to worry about it coming off the wall.  I especially like that the designs have a painted look, since that’s what we originally planned to do.
Here’s an up-close look at the various parts.  I think my favorite is the giraffe…so vibrant and happy-looking.

The decals are of course removable.  I wish I would have considered this option when we were living in an apartment and weren’t allowed to paint the walls to add color and impact to a room.
Walls Tale offers tons of cute and colorful designs for kids’ rooms and nurseries. They’ll even custom-make your child’s name in the vinyl color of your choice.
Here’s the original design that we chose from the Walls Tale website.  As you can see, we arranged it a little differently and I swapped out the lion for a different design and color.
If you aren’t in need of jungle animals-not to worry-there are more options from which to choose.  Here are a few more of my favorite designs from them:
I love this whimsical tree in the girly pink and purple!
This giraffe chart is such a cute way to track a child’s growth!
And how adorable is this?  Of course you can customize the name.
There are lots more cute options too!
The designs ship from outside the U.S.  Mine took two weeks to get to me, so keep that in mind when you’re planning.  It was well worth the wait!
Check out WallsTale.com when you get a chance!  I bet you’ll find something that you love!
