Night and Light Fury Bars (a.k.a. Black and White Cheesecake Bars)

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #TrainYourDragonAtWalmart http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

Have you seen How to Train Your Dragon 3 yet? If you haven’t heard, there’s a new female white dragon! So we made some Night and Light Fury Bars in honor of the black and white dragon duo and had a fun family night watching the movie!

My kids have been obsessed with How to Train Your Dragon since watching the first movie. Toothless and Hiccup are just so fun! Don’t you agree?!

Especially when we heard there would be a new white dragon, a Light Fury, we were even more excited to see the third movie! Are your kids as intrigued by dragons as my kids are? They pretty much eat, sleep and breathe dragons! In fact, a common sight at our kitchen table is all four kids sitting around, practicing drawing dragons and competing to see whose is the best. 🙂

I love listening to them play in their make believe world, because every time, each of them is a different type of dragon with unique abilities. 🙂 But, of all the dragons imaginable, we think Toothless and the Light Fury are the coolest!

Since we are pretty hooked on all things How to Train Your Dragon, we created these yummy Night and Light Fury Bars as a perfect treat for our family movie night! They are no bake, so easy to make, and sooo delicious! All the qualifications I love most about a dessert! 🙂 I’m pretty sure you’re going to be crazy for these!

We grabbed a How To Train Your Dragon 3 Walmart Exclusive DVD Gift Set and got ready for a fun evening together! The kids were so excited about the Toothless and Light Fury Funko keychains inside!

This show is a new favorite around our house! Of course the addition of a new female white dragon piqued our interest and we loved watching the adventures of the Night and Light Fury unfold! It’s nonstop excitement-a story of friendship, love, self-discovery and teamwork! Our favorite part that isn’t a spoiler was the beautiful hidden world! So magical!

To make the evening even more memorable, we picked up a cute How to Train Your Dragon toy and shirt at Walmart too! The kids were all smiles about it! Toothless can even launch the blue projectile in battle! And Hiccup, the armored viking, can stand on his back! I’m thinking we’re going to need to head back to Walmart and snag a dragon toy for each of the kiddos, because, let’s just say, there was a tug-of-war-happening. 🙂

We watched the show inside this time, but as soon as the weather is consistently warm (and not windy), we’re going to have a summer outdoor movie night with How to Train Your Dragon 3! I can’t wait for you to watch it too! Let me know what you think of it!

And you can bet we’ll be enjoying these bars on repeat over the coming months!

Ingredients

  • Crust:
  • 1 pkg. (14.3 oz) chocolate sandwich cookies, blended into fine crumbs
  • 1/2 c. butter, melted
  • Cheesecake Filling:
  • 2 c. heavy cream, whipped until soft peaks form
  • 2 pkgs. (8 oz. each) cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 3 1/2 c. powdered sugar
  • 10 crushed chocolate sandwich cookies
  • Ganache Topping:
  • 1/2 c. dark chocolate chips
  • 3 Tbsp. heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Line a 9x13" pan with parchment paper so it hangs over the sides. For the crust, stir together the chocolate sandwich cookie crumbs and melted butter. Press/spread into parchment paper-lined pan. Place it in the freezer while you're making the cheesecake portion.
  2. In the bowl of an electric mixer, whip 2 c. heavy cream until soft peaks form. Transfer the whipped cream to another bowl, then to the mixing bowl, add softened cream cheese, vanilla extract and powdered sugar. Mix until nice and creamy, scraping down the sides in between. Add the whipped cream and mix until creamy and fully incorporated.
  3. Pour half of the cheesecake mixture over the chilled crust, then sprinkle 10 crushed chocolate sandwich cookies over. Then spread the remaining cheesecake mixture over the crushed cookies.
  4. Make the chocolate ganache by adding the dark chocolate chips and 3 Tbsp. heavy cream to a small pan over medium-low heat and stirring it constantly until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth. Drizzle over the cheesecake bars and freeze for 1-2 hours or place in the fridge for 3-4 hours before serving so it can set and chill through.

I have to confess and say we haven't seen any of these movies! But this would be such a fun treat to make along with watching them! Thanks, Christine!
