Summer nights are so much more fun with an outdoor movie party with family and friends! Set up a simple snack station or concessions stand, as we called it, kick back and enjoy a cinematic experience under the stars.
Our summer days are extremely busy between lessons, chores, play dates with friends and errands around town, just to name a few. So when the evening hits, we love to relax and unwind as a family while watching a movie together. But, we just can’t resist being outdoors, especially when the weather’s so gorgeous and the temps have cooled off!
So the other night we brought our blankets outside and set up a simple table with loads of yummy snacks and treats to munch on while watching.
I wanted to keep with the summer time vibe, so I used a vinyl red and white gingham table liner. I hung a cardboard bunting on the wooden fence behind using pushpins. I strung outdoor lights between the slats. They add such a nice touch!
There were gummy bears, pretzels, red licorice, cherry sour balls, popcorn, and chilled water up for grabs.
Our evening wouldn’t have been nearly as “wonderfilled” without OREO sandwich cookies and MILKA OREO Chocolate Candy Bars for the adults! I wanted to make the goodies super convenient and easy to access so we wouldn’t miss out on any important scenes of the movie. So I put the candy and snacks in glass jars, filled cute cardboard containers with freshly-popped, buttery popcorn, and then arranged the OREO sandwich cookies out on platters for quick snatching.
I always say that it’s not a party without delicious food, especially when we’re talking about movie-watching! It’s just nice to be munching and grazing throughout the film.
I used push pins to attach a white sheet to our fence for the screen. Then we wheeled out our projector and got the evening started! The kids got comfortable on the grass with their pillows and blankets.
The evening was filled with so many memories, smiles and loads of good snacks! This is definitely going to become a summertime tradition around our house! We’ve decided that next time we’re going to invite some friends to share in the fun!
I earned some serious “cool mom points” for this one! 🙂
