Create a simple Root Beer Float Bar with A&W Root Beer and then spend the evening outdoors with family enjoying the beautiful summer weather!
Ever since we moved to our new home in the mountains, we spend a lot more time outdoors. The kids have plenty of space to ride bikes, practice cartwheels, play ball and swing. We love having lots of green grass where the kids can run wild on and a nice playground area in the sand. It makes my heart so happy to watch them enjoying nature and their beautiful surroundings. Some of their favorite things to do now are to catch lizards and bugs. 🙂
And I’m pretty sure they could swing every minute of the day, if I’d let them.
I have so many fond memories of my summer evenings spent playing outdoor games with my cousins and siblings, climbing trees, building huts, or having races.
I’ll never forget how my great aunt had a summer birthday and, growing up, she always invited my family over on her special day for root beer floats. We seriously looked forward to it all year round. 🙂
I hope my kids will have similar warm feelings when they recall their summer days at home.
Gorgeous, warm evenings were meant for family time in the yard, don’t you think? We have the most breathtaking view from our patio table. So, of course, we spend most evenings outdoors where we either BBQ or have a casual picnic on the grass.
We love to make the most of every moment that we have together while the kids are out of school!
A picnic is made so much more exciting with an A&W Root Beer Float Bar! So I treated the kids and their dad to this yummy and refreshing dessert after enjoying our dinner on a blanket.
This Root Beer Float Bar was so quick to set up and was very easy on the budget too!
I grabbed a few 2-liters of A&W Root Beer (our favorite) at Walmart, along with all the toppings in preparation for this fun event.
I lined the table with a burlap runner and some gingham fabric from my craft closet. Then I turned a wooden crate upside down so I could place the A&W Root Beer and vanilla ice cream up on a higher level.
I displayed some perfect root beer float pairings (some sprinkles, chocolate malt balls, M&M’s, chocolate caramel-filled candies, maraschino cherries, chocolate syrup, and whipped topping) on the lower level for convenient access for those little arms and hands.
I placed red and white striped and dotted straws in small jars, along with some spoons.
And, for a simple decoration, I added a cardboard bunting that I already had. I think it added a cute touch!
There’s just something so fun about sipping from a mason jar, don’t you think? Especially when we’re talking about an A&W Root Beer Float that’s loaded with sprinkles, whipped cream, chocolate candies and a pretty red cherry on top!
Guess what?! National Root Beer Float Day is coming up on August 6th, and you know what that means?! You have the best excuse ever to enjoy A&W Root Beer Floats all the day long! 🙂
It would be so perfect to surprise the family with a root beer float bar, like today’s, to celebrate!
Have fun making memories with your kids this wonderful season! I hope your summer plans include lots of A&W Root Beer Floats like mine do!
