Tricks and Treats Halloween Snack Mix

Surprise the kids with this fun and festive Halloween snack mix after school! It’s loaded with tricks such as candy eyeballs and treats like Annie’s pretzels, Annie’s chocolate bunny cereal and candy corns! These are also perfect for parties or as classroom goodie gifts when added to cellophane treat bags and finished with the printable label!

My kids come through the door every day ravenous and immediately start the hunt for something yummy to fill their tummies.  Are your kids the same way?

So I like to have better-for-you options at-the-ready so they’ll reach for those things instead of the junk food.

When the holidays roll around, it’s so fun to whip up themed snacks like today’s mix.  Since I’m a busy mom of four and am usually preparing dinner and helping with homework when the kiddos are begging for something to tide them over, I like to keep it simple yet cute.  And I must say, today’s recipe definitely fits the bill!

I included some spooky and tasty eyeballs (because it just wouldn’t be a Halloween treat without them). I used some yogurt-covered almonds and just dotted them with black gel frosting.  Then I added some Annie’s Cocoa Bunnies Cereal and Annie’s Pretzel Bunnies for the filler with a few splashes of candy corns for that perfect pop of fall color.

I headed to Sprouts and grabbed all the ingredients I needed to make today’s goodie bags. There’s an amazing sale going on right now through October 19th there where you can save 35% on select Better for You brands such as Annie’s, Larabar, Cascadian Farms Organic, Food Should Taste Good, Immaculate, Epic, Mountains High, and Muir Glen Organic. The sale is limited to stock on hand.

Now is a great time to stock up on items to fill that pantry! I know we go through food in a flash with my hungry, growing kids. So I like to watch for sales on our family’s favorite foods at Sprouts and then run over and clean the place out. 🙂

My kids are huge pretzel and chocolate bunny fans, so in they went!

Just a helpful hint…the eyeballs are best prepared a few hours in advance to give the icing time to set.

I scooped the mix into some cellophane bags, added the adorable labels, then set them on the counter for the kids to see when they got home.  Talk about a fun surprise!

Download and print your Tricks & Treats Bag Topper here. I recommend printing the tags on white cardstock.  Then, cut them out, fold them in half, place on top of the bag and staple in place.  So easy and sure to be a hit, whether served as an after school snack or as favors at a Halloween party!

This is a snack I can really get behind! Better for you mix-ins and totally Halloween-ified!

Are your kiddos getting excited about Halloween and dressing up for trick-or-treating? My kids are chomping at the bit! I’m not sure who’s more giddy…them or me. 🙂  Either way, this snack mix is a great way to celebrate the spooky-fun holiday!
