The spooky day is on its way, so sweeten things up with these Halloween Monster Cookies! The party people are sure to enjoy them!
Monster cookies are always a huge hit, no matter the time of year. It’s basically a cookie with everything but the kitchen sink in it. The typical ingredients in a monster cookie are oats, nuts, chocolate, coconut, sometimes peanut butter (but not in today’s case), and M&M candies. I think you’ll find that today’s version is loaded with goodness in every bite!
These cookies are so perfect for Halloween! Simply toss in some festive-colored chocolate candies and you’re all set! I love how easy these are to make! Plus, the batch makes about a million cookies, so you can feed a crowd of hungry little ghouls, goblins, ghosts, princesses, and witches. These are sure to become a Halloween time tradition!
What are your favorite Halloween activities? My kids are excited to hit up the Haunted House and the pumpkin patch. We’ll most likely be throwing a pumpkin-carving party with family. We can’t wait to celebrate in a big way, all throughout October! And, it just wouldn’t be spooky season without other special homemade goodies like these Pumpkin Krispies Treats, these Halloween Oreo Brownie Bars, and these Frosted Halloween Brownies.
Do you decorate for Halloween or do you decorate for fall? We do a little bit of both. There are pumpkins scattered around our house, along with faux bats and witches’ hats. My kids get a kick out of decking the place out with spiderwebs and creepy spiders. I know it’s still September, but my kids are itching to pull out the decor and get it all set up! We’re all chomping at the bit. We’ll see how long we can make it before we break down and plaster the place with all things Halloween.
I love going trick-or-treating with the kids and seeing their excitement as they go house-to-house. I’m debating on whether I should just leave a candy bowl on my front porch or leave my husband home to hand it out. We both love to go out with the kids on Halloween night. But I do enjoy seeing all the neighborhood kids at my front door, all dressed up.
I’m thinking I’ll make another batch of these cookies for our upcoming family Halloween party with cousins. You simply cannot go wrong with these Monster Cookies! I’ve shared a plethora of Halloween ideas here on the blog over the years, so make sure you check them out! For all Halloween dessert recipes, go HERE.
To make these cookies, you’ll simply cream together the wet ingredients (butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar) first, then add eggs and vanilla and mix again until light and creamy. Then you’ll stir together the dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, salt, oats, pecans and coconut flakes) in a separate bowl, then add it to the wet ingredients and mix just until combined. Then, stir in your Halloween M&M’s and mini chocolate chips. Roll the dough into balls, then press the balls to flatten them, then bake to perfection!
Then enjoy at your Halloween party or pumpkin-carving bash. I can’t wait for you to try these! I always bake the dessert fresh the day we’ll be enjoying them. Cookies are just so much better fresh! You’ll want to finish these off within two days, or they tend to harden. That shouldn’t be a problem, given how delicious they are!
