When it comes down to it, Halloween is really all about the candy, right? At least to kids. And I’ll admit proudly that it is for me too. 🙂 Those mini chocolate bars always steal any and all self control I once thought I had.
This Halloween Treasure Necklace is a fun way to encourage kids to get crafty. It’s super simple and it involves sugar…need I say more?
Without a doubt kids’ most favorite part about Halloween is the candy. They’d be fibbing if they said it wasn’t. Dressing up, attending parties and carving pumpkins are fun, but when it all comes down to it, the sugar wins. So what better craft to involve kids in than one with festive treats and treasures? They’ll be swarming before you can get everything ready. This Halloween Treasure Necklace is super simple and so adaptable, as you can add in whatever refreshments or small toys you can get your hands on. The kiddos can jump right in and do most of it by themselves too! And, it’s a snack-as-you go kind of deal. It doesn’t get better than that. Just make sure you save enough to fill the necklaces.
Isn’t it cute? I absolutely love Halloween colors.
Here’s what you’ll need:
One roll of cellophane
Black and orange ribbon
candy corn pumpkins
candy corns
Mike and Ikes (I just used the orange and green)
spider rings
eyeball gum
candy corn M&M’s
skeleton candies
I found most of these supplies at the Dollar Tree.
Cut down the length of your cellophane, making it about 5″ wide.
This was plenty long enough to fit my six-year-old, but you may need to lengthen it for older children.
Line your candies down the edge of the cellophane, leaving about 1″ in between each.
We had room for 9 candy pouches.
Cut pieces of ribbon about 5 1/2″ long.
Now carefully roll your cellophane, tucking the candy in, so it’s fully enclosed
and won’t fall out after being tied.
Beginning at the top, tie a ribbon, then continuing down, tie one tightly
between each new treat/treasure section.
Tie a ribbon on the very bottom also.
Now you can either tie the two ends together with a ribbon, or put it around the child’s
neck first and then tie.
You’re all finished!
Now the kids can open a pouch and indulge in a tasty Halloween snack whenever they please!
It’s a perfect classroom, play date, or Halloween party activity that little ones are sure to enjoy.
