“Little Dippers” 7-Layer Bean Dip and Chillin’ Ranch Dip make for tasty and simple after school snacks!
My daughter always comes home starving after a long day of school. Are your kids the same way? The second she walks in the door, she goes straight to the pantry in search of sustenance. It’s as if she hadn’t eaten all day. 🙂 So we’ve made a habit of enjoying a light snack before dinner to tide her over.
Too many times, her choice of snack involves a bag of chips or a stack of cookies from the package. But those don’t seem to sit with her at all, not to mention I’d rather she put those calories to use in a different manner.
Because the feeling of hunger for school children comes on strong after entering the house, the snack has to be there waiting or very readily available. I’m sure you know how it goes. There’s no telling a child to “wait a minute” when his or her stomach is grumbling.
So I’ve found the perfect after school snack solution in these Delimex and Bagel Bites. Served with two oh-so-simple dips that can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator, snacking on yummy-ness couldn’t get much easier! While my daughter’s on the bus ride home I can pop these bad boys in the oven or microwave and voila! I’ll be ready to answer her calls of hunger the moment I hear the door open and the backpack hit the floor. 🙂
I grabbed these frozen snacks, along with the dip ingredients, at Walmart on my last grocery trip.
What I may love most about these snacks, combined with the dip, is that they’re perfect for feeding a small army if my daughter decides to bring friends home, which has been known to happen. 🙂
Warm a bunch of tasty Bagel Bites and surround a cup of Chillin’ Ranch Dip! Tiny pizza bites made with real cheese and homemade sauce with 0g trans fat are the perfect companion to this jazzed-up dip! It’s comprised of just three simple ingredients too!{CHILLIN’ RANCH DIP}
1/2 c. Ranch dressing
1/4 tsp. cumin
1/4 tsp. chili powder
Combine all ingredients in a bowl and store in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
What kids can resist pizza with a side of Ranch? Mine certainly couldn’t.
For the next simple snack idea, I put together a no-fuss 7-layer bean dip to accompany some delicious Delimex Beef Taquito dippers. Mmmmmm…mmmmm good! I served it in a small cup, because kids tend to like having their own of everything. Sharing is a concept we’re still trying to grasp. 🙂
Again, this can be made ahead of time and pulled out of the refrigerator whenever it’s needed. Just add the lettuce on right before serving so it doesn’t get soggy.
{EASY 7-LAYER BEAN DIP}
Refried beans
Taco seasoning mix
Sour cream
Avocados, pureed
Salsa
Chopped lettuce
Shredded cheese
Diced tomatoes
For each serving, combine 1/4 cup refried beans with 1/4 tsp. taco seasoning mix. Layer on bottom, then add the desired amount of sour cream, pureed avocado, salsa, lettuce, cheese and tomatoes. Serve with warmed Delimex Taquitos for dipping.
Bagel Bites and Delimex will accomplish the kids’ dipping fix.
