This adorably clever Candy Corn Banner also functions as a Halloween Matching Game for kids! How fun is that?
I’ve said before that I love when cute and functional collide. This simple Halloween craft is one of those instances. A colorful “candy” banner on the mantel one moment can become entertainment the next. When the little ones are getting antsy, they can quickly remove the pieces and play matching with some cute Halloween images on the backs!
I love adding new Halloween decor to my collection each year, especially those that I don’t have to worry about my kids handling. This banner can stay up for Thanksgiving too!
I made it with my Silhouette craft cutting machine, but if you don’t have access to one, simply find some candy corn images online, print, cut and string! Then glue the Halloween images on back.
Begin by arranging your candy corns in Silhouette Studio. I purchased a design from the Silhouette shop and fit four to a sheet to conserve on materials. I love textured surfaces, so I used Silhouette adhesive-backed canvas paper, but regular white Cardstock will do as well. Use the “Print and Cut” feature in Silhouette Studio to print, then cut your images.
Download and print your Halloween matching images HERE, then cut. I peeled off the adhesive backs of my canvas and stuck the pieces to some heavy white cardstock, then re-cut them by hand. This is optional, but will increase durability. If you’re using cardstock to begin with, you get to skip this step.
Glue the images on the backs and string the pieces with rick rack and clothespins or play a fun game of matching!
My kids have gotten a huge kick out of our new candy corn banner turned Halloween Matching Game! This will be a very well-used decor item over the years!
