This simple, no-sew Emoji Halloween Costume is perfectly fitting for babies and toddlers and can be put together in just minutes!
If you follow me on Instagram, then you may have seen that we welcomed a new, adorable baby boy into the I Dig Pinterest family just a few weeks ago. We could not be more in love with this little guy! We were also completely shocked to see that he has a good amount of hair! His brother and sisters were completely bald at birth. 🙂
We’ve all been enjoying lots of snuggle time with him. Newborn cuddles are the best! I wish I could freeze time and keep him tiny for a long while, with the addition of more sleep, of course. 🙂
Since emojis are all the rage right now and because babies are not shy about letting us know how they feel, usually via crying, I wanted to quickly put together something for my new little one to wear for his first Halloween!
I didn’t want to spend a lot of money to dress him up, but I did want to document this special first-time event his life. So I picked up a few inexpensive supplies and threw together an adorable costume that’s sure to turn heads at the party or while out trick-or-treating!
For this simple project, you’ll need:
A long-sleeve baby onesie
Yellow Felt
Scissors
Permanent markers
A Hot Glue Gun
Fabric Markers (optional)
Begin by tracing six small circles onto your yellow felt.
Next, draw your emoji faces onto the circles. I did a quick online search for emoji images and used those as a guide.
Now cut them out. Aren’t they cute?!
Next, slip a piece of cardboard inside the onesie and write on the front of it, starting far enough to the top that you don’t run out of space. Remember, you’ll need to leave room for the baby’s pants on bottom. I used a permanent marker because I’m only planning on him wearing it once, but if you’d like to get multiple uses out of it, be sure to use a fabric marker.
Now hot glue the emojis to the sleeves of the onesie, when the baby is not wearing it, of course. 🙂 Don’t overdo it on the glue or it will show through the felt.
That’s it! Now dress the adorable baby in it and try not to smile. 🙂
I can’t wait to show him off while trick-or-treating on Halloween night!
And speaking of Halloween night, I wouldn’t want our trick-or-treating to be cut short because of a hiccup in preparedness in the baby department, so I hit Babies “R” Us and stocked up on some essentials. I like to stay as fashionable as possible, even with a baby in tow, so the stylish Huggies Clutch ‘n’ Clean Wipes designs called to me.
I can hang it on the stroller while we’re out begging for candy door-to-door too! 🙂 Because there’s not much worse than having a fussy baby who needs a diaper change and struggling to find the wipes in the pitch dark of the Halloween night.
It fits nicely into my already over-stuffed diaper bag (because a mom can never be too prepared). And, I can easily refill it with my favorite Huggies wipes when it runs out!
I loved all the Huggies Clutch ‘n’ Clean Wipes designs that I saw, for boy or girl, on my trip down the diaper aisle at Babies “R” Us. It was hard to choose just one!
I grabbed some onesies while I was there and a few other baby necessities on my list. I’m all for one stop shopping, especially when feedings are so frequent right now and errands need to be quick!
This Halloween-obsessed mommy couldn’t help but notice this invitation for baby’s first Halloween bash while there. I love a good excuse to party, especially while showing off the cuteness of my new babe. 🙂
I may be biased, but isn’t he about the cutest thing you ever did see? The costume just steps it up a notch. He doesn’t care that he’s going to look absolutely lovable and squeezable for his trick-or-treating debut, but I’m sure it’ll mean extra treats in the bucket, which his mommy will surely appreciate. 🙂
What will your little ones be dressing as this year? I’d love to hear in the comments section below!
